4 Stars (Great)Why I Saw It: Always game for a true story, especially one where David takes on Goliath.
What I Thought: Though the methodical nature of planning an assassination can’t be avoided, somehow the film never quite picked up the momentum it needed, though once it did, there was little stopping it. Nevertheless, it’s a beautiful portrait of ordinary people rising to the occasion and showing the world their mettle. Quite unforgettable. (And it’s nice to see Jamie Dornan keeping his career intact. 😉 )

Anthropoid. Dir. Sean Ellis. Perf. Cillian Murphy, Jamie Dornan, Charlotte Le Bon, Anna Geislerová, Alena Mihulová, Toby Jones, Harry Lloyd. Bleeker Street Media, 2016.

True story of the Czech mission to assassinate the Nazi third in command and galvanize the support from the Allies in freeing their country.
