Duty (Piety)
- What one performs, or avoids doing, in fulfillment of the permanent dictates of conscience, piety, right, or law.
- The binding or obligatory force of something that is morally or legally right; moral or legal obligation.
Society and statute may impose a duty, but it is one’s internal sense of duty that brings meaning and richness; consider the difference between a reluctant parent and an eager one, between a self-oriented soldier and a comrade in arms. Blessed are those in relationship with one who embraces a duty… unfortunate are those in the care of one who bears it, but doesn’t. Following are excellent illustrations of both (and the ordinary, occasionally comical or hapless people between the two).

Back from a seriously scary health relapse in mid-October and returning to action. Kudos to my patient friends and colleagues, you're the best. New programs and more unrolling this year, here's to 2012!
