Gratitude
- An attitude of appreciation in acknowledgment of a benefit that one has received or will receive.
We’re not going all Pollyanna here, don’t worry ~ that attitude denies legitimate disappointment and wholesome desire. However, without at least modicum of gratitude we risk becoming brittle, embittered, despairing, and alone. Conversely, genuine gratitude (vs. “feeling happy”) gives us joy in the present or fuel to fight another day, as the case may be. Following are excellent illustrations of people demonstrating what it is, how to get it, and how to keep it come what may.
Examples of Gratitude in Film
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
- Harold and Maude
- In America
- ‘night, Mother
- Scrooge
- The Doctor
- Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Back from a seriously scary health relapse in mid-October and returning to action. Kudos to my patient friends and colleagues, you're the best. New programs and more unrolling this year, here's to 2012!
