Justice

  • Judgment involved in the determination of rights and the assignment of rewards and punishments.
Life isn’t fair, and when fairness fails us (or better said, people fail us in dealing fairly), we seek justice. My first day of law school my professor said, “Why do we have the law? Because the law gives us certainty.” Not certainty that we will be pleased by the outcome, not certainty that the wound inflicted by unfairness will be wiped away, but rather certainty that we do have a recourse, and that that recourse will give us a fair hearing. In a non-legal setting justice can come in other forms, be it vindication, forgiveness, apology, or reparation. Following are excellent illustrations of people seeking, determining, receiving, and in some cases, dispensing it…

Jan 2012: Back from Hiatus

She's alive! Al-ive!

Back from a seriously scary health relapse in mid-October and returning to action. Kudos to my patient friends and colleagues, you're the best. New programs and more unrolling this year, here's to 2012!

First up, as you've noticed, is the site redesign (please forgive any wonky links, I'm on it). Full content will be returned in coming days, with some neat new features in pre-production.
