Mercy
- Kindness towards an individual, especially an enemy, who is in one’s power.
I heard it said once, “I want God’s mercy, not his justice.” Indeed. Justice says, “You have infracted, and must recompense the other according to the severity of your action, and I am here to ensure that you do.” Mercy says, “I can require this of you, and it is within my purview and power to do so, but I will not.” Remembering that we all deserve justice, it’s a worthy quality to be able to exercise mercy. In regular life, this means taking as much from the offending party as one needs to rebuild, and then letting the rest of it go ~ even if means taking less than one rightfully could and that the other skates on some of the consequence. Mercy simply makes the world a better place. Following are excellent illustrations of people granting it and receiving it ~ or not…

Back from a seriously scary health relapse in mid-October and returning to action. Kudos to my patient friends and colleagues, you're the best. New programs and more unrolling this year, here's to 2012!
