Suffering
- The pain, misery, or loss experienced by one undergoing or being subjected to pain, punishment, etc.
This fallen world, rife with depravity, offers much example of suffering, often stemming from some systemic failure or evil. For our purposes here, we focus on individual suffering, as it is the only type one can actually manage; even if suffering as part of or in empathy with a group, our feelings and responses are our own. Following are excellent illustrations of people facing remarkable levels of anguish, even despair, and finding ways to come to terms with their circumstances (some arguably more advisable than others).

Back from a seriously scary health relapse in mid-October and returning to action. Kudos to my patient friends and colleagues, you're the best. New programs and more unrolling this year, here's to 2012!
