Trust
- Reliance on and confidence in the truth, worth, reliability, etc., of a person or thing.
Trust is often conceptualized as being able to rely on a person’s word that they will do what they say they will do. Perhaps a more useful approach is to trust in one’s own observation of what a person will or will not do,
and then move from there. Admittedly a less warm-and-fuzzy interpretation, but certainly one that can stand with more surety. Then, if you find someone’s whose word matches their actions, you’re golden.
